Let’s talk about country music and the Super Bowl…

Who’s excited for RUMP FEST 2020 with J-Lo and Shakira? No, but seriously, who’s excited for the Super Bowl half time show this year?

No one I know.

Each year new artists are announced and each year country music fans are left shaking their heads and wondering why.

To further add to your frustration, let’s look at a list of country acts that have sold out stadiums since 2019:

    1. Garth Brooks
    1. Kenny Chesney
    1. Jason Aldean
    1. Luke Bryan
    1. Zac Brown Band
    1. Blake Shelton
    1. George Strait

I’m not saying just because someone sells out a stadium they should be eligible to play the Super Bowl, but tell me how many non-country artists have even played a stadium since the beginning of last year. Not too many. That’s gotta say something, doesn’t it?

I’ve talked to both Kenny and Aldean about this recently. Click the clips below to hear what they had to say.

Jason Aldean:

Kenny Chesney:

Country music hasn’t been represented during the half time show since 2003, and has only been featured twice since 1994. Maybe 2021 will be our year…?
